**Incident and Investigation:**

During a harsh winter, an expedition was planned by several members of the [University Of Tarvovesta](wiki:University-Of-Tarvovesta) who were based out of the research facility in the small town of [Auburn](wiki:Auburn). The expedition team was made up of hardy explorers, some of which were locals to the [Doribatt Mountains](wiki:Doribatt-Mountains). The team was well supplied and had decades of hiking experience. The head of the expedition, a man by the name of Rowen Wadland, had been asked by the research team in [Auburn](wiki:Auburn) to make for the famed [Mount Corbreck](wiki:Mount-Corbreck) to see about a strange light that had been observed during a period of strange weather. Rumors about the appearance of increased amounts of [Spirit Fog](wiki:Spirit-Fog) were ignored and the hiking team of 9 people set out towards [Mount Corbreck](wiki:Mount-Corbreck). The journey was slated to take 3 weeks, and after a month had passed, it became apparent that something had gone horribly wrong. The hikers were never seen alive again. In the spring, a second expedition was sent out to look for the missing hikers and after weeks of search, a small abandoned camp was found with the personal effects of some of the hikers still at the camp. Of the nine hikers, the bodies of only two people were found. The two bodies were identified as members of the expedition by citizens of [Auburn](wiki:Auburn). The bodies were found in gastly condition, most likely set upon by some sort of predator. The rest of the expedition team, including the expedition’s leader Rowen Wadland, were never found. It was widely understood that a bank of [Spirit Fog](wiki:Spirit-Fog) had rolled through the Dondella Pass and engulfed the expedition team. External foul play had been entirely ruled out given the party’s remote location at the time of the incident. The [University Of Tarvovesta](wiki:University-Of-Tarvovesta) has erected two monuments to those lost during the expedition, one statue on their campus back in the city of [Tarvovesta](wiki:Tarvovesta), the other in the small town of [Auburn](wiki:Auburn), which was later a victim of its own strange incident.

**Folklore and Mythology:**

Since the Dondella Pass incident, expeditions to [Mount Corbreck](wiki:Mount-Corbreck) have become increasingly rare to organize and almost never take place in the winter months now. Locals in the area who were always wary of the region grew even more so after the incident and most took to calling [Mount Corbreck](wiki:Mount-Corbreck) haunted and cursed. Small tales of strange creatures or dangerous [Spirit Fog](wiki:Spirit-Fog) banks became widely circulated folklore and most people avoided the area of the Dondella Pass all together. Several different researchers from the [University Of Tarvovesta](wiki:University-Of-Tarvovesta) have tried to discover the actual cause of the incident and several working theories are still in place to this day. The Dondella Pass incident now however seems to be little more than a prelude to the [Spirit Fog](wiki:Spirit-Fog) incident that befell the small town of [Auburn](wiki:Auburn) a few years later, where the vast majority of the town disappeared all in one night, never to be seen again. Through Gaolund, the entire region is widely viewed with concern and suspicion.
