Mid Country is the largest region of Ekhoron and extends down to the border with the Great Shimmer. It is thickly forested with tall hardwood trees that form a large canopy, and little ground cover. What lower-level foliage is there is food for the resident herbivores who graze in large herds in the hundreds - or even thousands.

Small hamlets for humans grow vertically from the ground to just below the canopy, allowing them to be relatively unaffected by the large grazing herds. Denizens either live in these tall hamlets, or in one of the two cities in Mid Country; Ekhoron City and Voguran. Each of these cities sits in a large crater, surrounded on most sides by tall cliffs. Travelers must journey through artificial ravines to enter the city, which are guarded by the ever vigilant city guards.

The craters themselves are not natural land formations. While their true origins are a mystery, the accepted history of the craters is that they were caused by great weapons of destruction during a great battle in the time of antiquities.

Ekhoron’s Mid Country is also home to the prestigious Birstan School and its slightly lesser well known neighbor, Belloin College.
