One of the oldest signatory members of the Honorable Order of Misthunters, the Roadwardens are well aware of the nightmares, ghosts, fiends, and monsters that lurk in miasma and shimmer and just how dangerous they can be. While ordinary, sane folk keep themselves far from the madness of the Great Shimmer, that was never an option for Eastern Ihlathi. Trapped by the Roporan Ocean and several great lakes, there was only so far settlements could get away from the mist and all it brings. Thus, the Roadwardens were formed and tasked with carving out a space of safety along the Brannis-Muscosao land corridor. And that’s what they’ve been doing ever since.
It’s been said the Roadwardens are the most knowledgeable Misthunters when it comes to dealing with the Mist and its creatures, and this is true, to an extent. Members of the Guild of Roadwardens are no strangers to venturing into the Shimmer. Ask anyone from the seasoned veteran to the newly apprenticed, and you’re sure to hear of a hunt that took their group past the border of civilization – maybe to cut back awakened plants before they took root in a nearby village or to catch a retreating nightmare. Yet whether it was out of this superior knowledge the Roadwardens campaigned quickly and aggressively for the Order to join the Narshe Estate’s newest project of the Majakka Terrace, or out of plain foolhardiness, remains to be seen.
