In 1305, the Treaty of Olisham ended a disastrous war with Altruscia, by dissolving the Galtea Protectorate. Some member regions joined the Lodogo Confederation, others joined with a newly liberated portion of Altruscia to create the nation of Qoolia, and most of those in the northeast formed the Yalhamir Republic. Two city-states chose to join the Kingdom of Sorovia.

Yalhamir has thrived by maintaining free (or at least very unrestrained) trade with everyone it can, in stark contrast to its Galtean predecessor. Though it is considered a young nation by the standards of Ihlathi, it has made a reputation for itself as a prime location for business and investment. There are some who say the Yalhamir senate controls a significant portion of national trade within the continent; there are others who say the senate is controlled by business interests from without
and within.

In 1485, the [Merrin Region](wiki:/cultures-locations-and-stories/yalhamir-republic/merrin-region) in the east was (allegedly) manipulated by Sorovian agitators to attempt to leave the Republic and join with Sorovia. This ignited a few small skirmishes that maintained the status quo, though the conflict has waxed and
waned over the decades. To this day, Yalhamir and Sorovia are officially at war, though most view it as a dynastic conflict over several swathes of mainland territory.
